Locating Cell:

  • Locating cell means uniquely identifying each cell in the spreadsheet.
  • It is also called as "cell reference" or "cell address"
  • Cell address is given by Column Letter with Row Number in sequence, of which cell is intersection of.
  • CellAddress = ColumnLetter + RowNumber
  • Example:
    • "A1" is cell in column "A" and row "1"
    • "AE531" is cell in column "AE" and row "531"
  • Cell addresses are used to specify cell data, cell range, in formatting, in formulas, in function, in charts.

 

Name Box:

  • Name box is the rectangular text box present above cell header on left most side.
  • It displays the cell address of the currently selected cell, for single cell selection.
  • When we select continues rang of cells then it shows leftmost top cell and rightmost bottom cell separated by colon (:)
  • If we select more than one non-continuous cells then it shows the address of the last selected cell.
