Glossary

We know that the Earth revolves around the Sun. Also, the Moon revolves around the Earth.

As you know, the rotation time of the Moon is a little more than 27 days. How many revolutions around the Earth would the Moon complete in one year?

Role Role Play : The Sun-Earth-Moon System
Procedure:

  1. Form groups of three. In each group, one student becomes the Sun, another becomes the Earth, and the third one becomes the Moon. Keep some distance between the Sun and the Earth so that the Moon can pass between them.

  2. The Earth should slowly revolve around the Sun in a circular orbit (you can stop the rotation if it is difficult to rotate while revolving after a few times).

  3. At the same time, the Moon should start revolving around the Earth.

  4. Try to adjust your speeds such that the Moon completes 12 rotations by the time the Earth revolves around the Sun.
