Lesson Summary

Definitions evolve from common properties of classes of shapes.
Definitions are needed in order to have a shared understanding of classes of shapes, and be able to reason together about these shape classes.
We evolve shared (working) definitions of squares, rectangles, parallelograms and rhombuses to use in class. For example: A square could be defined as a quadrilateral with all sides equal and all angles as right angles. A rhombus could be defined as a quadrilateral with all sides equal.
Definitions evolve from common properties of classes of shapes.

(You don’t need to use these definitions - you can evolve your own definitions that you and your class agree upon.)
