Compare and Share: Unequal Groups - I

In the activity below you have to compare the share of two groups and check if the food has been distributed fairly.
 
Please have a copy and pencil with you so that you can draw and work out the share of people if needed.  
After you have distributed the cake fairly among all the children, take a Screenshot and upload it on the platform “ Gallery” in this folder that you have created called “ PR Unit 1”.

In the above activity you have to compare the distribution of food. What are the strategies that you used to think about it?

1. Difference between the number of people in the two groups 
2. Difference between the number of parathas that the two groups got 
3. Share of each person in both the groups 
4. Making smaller sub groups and distributing the parathas

Write a note about what you learnt from your mistakes in this activity.

What happens to the share when you increase the number of person in any group? What happens when you increase the food given to any group?

Suppose there is a group of 6 getting 4 parathas. How much amount of food should be increased if one member increases in the group. What if one member decreases?

What was the mistake that the overseer made while distributing the parathas? What did you learn from that mistake? Can you give examples of situations where quantities are increasing multiplicatively? Discuss with your friends after clicking this Discuss button.
